Smart Solutions highlights safety systems and drive technology allows Geze windows and doors to be controlled from a single source. Linked into Geze’s new interface modules – the IO 420 and the IQ box KNX - products can be integrated via widely used communication standards for homes and commercial buildings. Multifunctional GEZE products for doors and windows, combined with networked system solutions, are said to guarantee effective smoke and heat extraction, fire compartmentation and clear escape routes. And for buildings which have restricted areas, Geze access control systems can enable clear routes of escape – initiated when the system is triggered. The 16-page brochure also showcases which products can best be integrated with BACnet and KNX interfaces, not only for automated escape route doors and emergency exits, but for smoke and heat extraction systems, automatic sliding doors and automated ventilation. www.geze.co.uk Getting wise to the potential of smart buildings BEST PRODUCTS OF 2017 Checkmate for scaffold sheeting performance Specialist contractor, Keltbray Demolition and Civil Engineering, has used the high performance Monarflex Monarsound acoustic scaffold sheeting from Icopal during the demolition and preparatory work on the K1 Knightsbridge development in South West London. The sheeting minimised disruption to the public by reducing noise and containing dust and particles, as well as ensuring a controlled environment for the team onsite. The 28,000m2 Knightsbridge development, which replaces the existing mixed-use buildings at the north of the Knightsbridge estate, comprises of luxury apartments and high-end retail units alongside commercial space. In consultation with BLC Construction Supplies, the Keltbray team selected Monarflex Monarsound acoustic sheeting due to the sound reducing properties. The acoustic absorption of Monarsound is provided by specially formulated polyurethane foam. The five-ply composition of the sheeting also incorporates a weather resistant LDPE co-polymer. Gareth Acres, K1 Knightsbridge project manager at Keltbray said: “The nature of the work in close proximity to both residential properties and busy shopping areas means that reducing the noise from the site as much as possible is paramount. The Monarsound solution ticked all the boxes, especially in terms of acoustic performance.” www.monarflex.co.uk Fast acting cleaning agent X800 from Sentinel is reportedly able to clean heating systems in as little as one hour, helping customer to deliver fast and effective best practice boiler protection services. Sentinel X800 fast acting cleaner can be used in hot or cold systems (older than six months) and, thanks to its nofoam formula, can be used in powerflushing machines. The non-acidic cleaning agent targets heavy corrosion that accumulates at the base of radiators, suspended debris that can block waterways and damage components, and rust and scale which forms on radiator walls. The product has been launched as part of Sentinel’s industry-wide ‘Think Dirty’ campaign, which aims to eradicate dirty circulating water by helping installers to deliver best practice cleaning through the use of cleaning chemicals matched to the age of system and type of corrosion. Sentinel is the only water treatment company to provide installers with a full range of cleaning chemicals. The new chemical innovations in Sentinel X800 cleaner include reducing agents to dissolve adhering corrosion crusts and settled debris, and strong complexing agents that help retain dissolved corrosion debris and scale in solution. www.sentinelprotects.com
