GENERAL PRODUCTS | PRODUCT PROFILES Floor space transformed As part of a refurbishment carried out at the Saint-Gobain Weber headquarters in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, Weberfloor products are being used extensively by the company. The work involves renovation of 240m² of industrial and commercial floor space. The Flitwick warehouse project involved the demolition of the old training workshop to make way for a new product storage area. The floor area was pre-treated and primed with Weberfloor 4716 primer. Weberfloor 4160 industry top industrial floor screed was then applied to a thickness of 10mm. During the preparation for a separate office area, a slip membrane was installed to create a floating floor. This was reinforced with alkalineresistant Weberfloor 4945 glass fibre mesh. Weberfloor 4310 fibre flow was then applied to the mesh at 25mm thickness and can be applied up to 50mm. Tracey Dempster, head of marketing at Saint-Gobain Weber said: “Ease and speed of application has been critical to allow early access by following trades. The transformation of this space was really impressive.” www.netweber.co.uk ‘Type A’ waterproofing added to range Vandex waterproofing products, including BBA certified Vandex BB75 and BBA certified Vandex Super, are now available from Triton Systems. According to Triton, the introduction of these two ‘Type A’ cementitious waterproofing systems to its range will enable specifiers to source, from a single point of supply, all the waterproofing materials they need for projects where a BBA certified, combined waterproofing system is required. Vandex BB75, a ready mixed slurry coating, is designed to waterproof vertical and horizontal concrete and masonry substrates, including awkward areas in vaults and cellars where a cavity drained system would not be appropriate. Vandex Super is an ‘active’ formulation, designed to waterproof foundations, slabs, lift pits and construction joints by combining with the free lime and moisture present to form insoluble crystalline complexes that block capillaries and minor shrinkage cracks. Neil Taylor, sales director at Triton, said: “The introduction of Vandex products to our range means we’ll be able to supply a much wider choice of Type A waterproofing systems to our customers, in particular for where a BBA certification is required for third party building warranties such as NHBC and Premier.” www.tritonsystems.co.uk European steel producer, Tata Steel, has launched its new generation three-layer Colorcoat Prisma prefinished steel, offering ultraviolet (UV) resistance and durability. The latest evolution is based on a three-layer technology that is said to deliver enhanced aesthetics with colour and gloss retention. The Colorcoat Prisma will be available with an extended Confidex Guarantee for up to 40 years. Colorcoat Prisma also incorporates Tata Steel’s Galvalloy metallic coating to provide corrosion protection. The product is also available in new colours which are said to be ideal for wall applications, while the Solid and Special Metallics colour ranges have also been updated based on market feedback and insight to include new colours such as Ariana, an ‘earthy’ bronze metallic and Sargasso, a ‘solid, deep,’ dark shade of blue. Samples of the Colorcoat Prisma range have been tested at more than seven locations with varying climates, such as Florida, Malaysia and Singapore. Peter Barker, manager product development at Tata Steel said: “Fully REACH compliant, the new Colorcoat Prisma offers an even more durable and aesthetic building envelope solution that also goes the extra mile to support BREAAM and LEED certification.” www.colorcoat-online.com James Heappey recently paid a visit to the Offsite Solutions factory in Highbridge, Somerset. Offsite Solutions, designer of bathroom pods for the construction industry, showed the Wells MP offsite technology and the company’s production facilities where complete bathrooms are manufactured for apartments, student accommodation, healthcare, hotel and care home schemes. During his visit, he saw production lines for both steelframed and composite GRP bathroom pods, the company’s latest product innovations. Following his tour, James Heappey MP commented: “It is fantastic to see such a fast-growing business flourishing, which is great news for the region and is creating manufacturing jobs in the heart of Somerset. I am very impressed with the investment Offsite Solutions has made and its plans to increase capacity further. The business has worked hard to create an excellent manufacturing facility to meet the growing market for off-site construction and bathroom pods.” Offsite Solutions has also announced a £5m investment programme to expand its production facilities in Highbridge, to meet the growing demand for its factory-built bathrooms. www.offsitesolutions.com
