The 2018 brochure is available to download from the new site and available from the Talasey Group’s main headquarters in Doncaster. There is also the addition of a new colour in the Premiastone collection, a lightly flamed granite flagstone known as silver ash. The company has also added a new style to its Classicstone collection, known as Yorkshire Blend. There are also six new additions to its Vitripiazza collection. The company has added Avorio, Bronzo and Pantera to its Anno collection and Moda, Elegante and Classe to its new for 2018 Stile collection. Dekton was chosen for the building’s panels, enabling the project to sit harmoniously next to existing structures. In total, 550m2 of Dekton surface was applied to the facade in the colour Edora from the Natural Collection. Its colour palette of warm and neutral greys in addition to its uniform texture is said to result in a ‘modern, pure and natural look’. The design of the facade, which is suspended and ventilated from behind, comprises a concrete wall 240mm thick, a layer of thermal insulation 160mm thick, rear space for ventilation and a substructure to which the facade panels are anchored. Dekton surface is a CE-certified cladding material and is said to have a high resistance to ultraviolet rays, frost and thawing, as well as high scratch and stain resistance. Due to the high density of the material, Dekton surfaces are said to be relatively light, and thanks to the large format slabs available (3,200mm by 1,440mm), Cosentino says they can be mounted ‘with relative ease and speed’. www.cosetino.com Aluminium windows and doors from fenestration manufacturer Senior Architectural Systems have been chosen for the new X1 Aire private rented scheme in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Located in the heart of Leeds city centre, the glazing package for the new residential scheme has been delivered by Aire Valley Architectural Aluminium for main contractor Bardsley Construction. Senior’s thermally broken SPW600e aluminium fixed light windows were specified to offer extra security and improved thermal efficiency, with Senior’s SPW501 aluminium doors, which have been designed to meet the requirements of PAS 24 and the Secured By Design standard, installed to the ground floor communal entrance. The acoustic performance of Senior’s SPW600e aluminium windows has been enhanced through the use of special acoustic double glazing which helps to reduce the traffic noise from the nearby main road. Said to maximise the flow of natural light, Senior’s aluminium windows also provide residents with attractive views of the River Aire and complement the brickwork façade of the building. www.seniorarchitectural.co.uk Cushioned feeling for affordable housing development The contemporary aesthetics of Forbo Flooring Systems’ Novilon cushioned vinyl, combined with its performance characteristics, has led Bovis Homes to incorporate the floor covering within its West Midlands region’s Affordable Social Housing Specification. At Bovis Homes’ Kingsmere development in Bicester, which consists of a mix of affordable and open market properties, Forbo’s Novilon was installed in all of the screeded ground floor rooms in the rented plots, such as the kitchen, hall, guest cloakroom, lounge and first floor bathroom and in the shared ownership homes, the floor covering was fitted to the ground floor kitchen and guest cloakroom, as well as the first-floor bathroom. Maxine Coppin, partnership development coordinator at Bovis Homes, commented: “When it comes to specifying products for a social housing project, tenant safety is paramount. Forbo’s Novilon vinyl is perfect for these projects as it delivers the relevant slip resistance required by our housing association clients and it’s also easy to maintain for the end users.” www.forbo-flooring.co.uk
