Both systems are widely specified right across the UK, suitable for both commercial projects and the domestic market. Q Mark Product Certification covers a wide range of characteristics including weather performance, mechanical strength, operating forces, corrosion resistance of fittings and PAS 24 security. In addition, the tests certify the doors’ opening and closing performance over 50,000 operating cycles. Schueco partner-fabricators with Q Mark Certification have their quality management system annually audited as well as a door security test to prove the products are being consistently and correctly manufactured. Q-Marked companies are eligible to bid for projects covered by the police’s Secured by Design initiative. Windows and doors that comply with SBD specifications form part of the front line against unlawful entry and can help to reduce household insurance premiums. www.schueco.com/web2/uk A three-wing revolving door system in the main entrance of the Georgian Manor of Groves Hotel has been restored and refurbished by TORMAX. Giving access to a contemporary new reception area, the revolving door system enhances the external façade and is also highly functional, providing clear and easy access for guests whilst also minimising energy costs by reducing heat-loss from the foyer and helping maintain an ambient internal temperature. Sarah Ward, business development manager at Manor of Groves said: “Constructed primarily in glass, the new hotel reception sits between two wings of the original building, with the revolving door system setting the standard of the hotel right from the start. “The main hotel is truly beautiful now it has been refurbished.” www.tormax.co.uk New generation of fire door holder Launched only four years ago by UK manufacturer Geofire, the Agrippa battery-powered door retainer automatically releases the fire door in the event of the fire alarm sounding. The fire door holder records the sound of the fire alarm, storing the sound onto the device. If the building’s fire alarm sounds, the patented technology releases the door to prevent the spread of smoke, flames and toxic gases. The sound activated, fire door holder can now be bought at over 270 Toolstation branches, over the phone or online. Due to its wire-free installation, the holder can be fitted in just ten minutes. Full installation guides and step-by-step videos are available online. Andy Collinson, CEO of Geofire, said: “It’s great to see suppliers like Toolstation stocking the Agrippa fire door holder. The device provides a simple and compliant solution to holding open fire doors where a wedge is sometimes used. “What’s more, the Agrippa holder uses our Geofire patented ‘listen and learn’ technology to record the sounds of the building’s specific fire alarm, so false activations from loud noises are eliminated.” www.geofire.co.uk Manufacturer, distributor and recycler of pvc-u window, door, conservatory and roofline systems Eurocell has expanded its standard colours range to include new ‘ontrend’ finishes such as ‘anteak’ and cream white.
