The nylon fastener head is manufactured with cutting fins that core through membrane faced insulated panels, with the encapsulated fastener self-drilling the substrate in one simple operation. Installation is via a bihex or internal torx dual-driving option. EJOT has taken on board customer feedback by lengthening Opticore’s light section fastener within the range, to 32mm, taking into account multi-lap applications. The black encapsulated Opticore carbon steel specification offers a corrosion resistant ‘Climadur’ organic coating, whilst the white encapsulated A2 stainless range is manufactured from high quality grade 304 stainless steel. The Opticore range also includes stitchers, defined for site by a new grey encapsulation. The overall result is a fastening range for hot and cold rolled steel as well as timber substrates, that cores, drills and fixes without compromise to the liner sheet - and improves thermal retention. www.ejot.co.uk 01977 687 040 With a 15deg. steeper pitch, Eurocell has released its new range of pvc-u skylight – the Skypod Acute. The new 35deg. pitch is visually different to the standard 20deg., making it suitable for more commercial applications such as schools, colleges, hospitals and offices, whilst the 35deg. pitch degree is better suited to larger, multi-storey buildings. The Skypod Acute has narrow glazing bars and sightlines, and now fits an even smaller aperture, allowing even more light into parts of the home that previously was not possible. It is supplied with self-cleaning, temperature controlled glass in blue, neutral, bronze and clear as standard, with a U-value of 1.0W/m²K achievable. The new model comes with the usual 10-year guarantee and is available in the full colour range of Anthracite Grey, Moondust Grey, Golden Oak, Rosewood and White, with a white interior finish as standard. A further 30 colour options can be made to order in just three weeks. www.eurocell.co.uk South Shields is benefiting from a £16 million cultural centre featuring an iconic circular façade created with the Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel. Contractors Bowmer & Kirkland have overseen the project, named ‘The Word, National Centre for the Written Word’. The three-storey structure designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects, includes library and exhibition space, IT suite, 3D printers, and café. The Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel was successfully engineered to provide a smooth, highly insulated exterior envelope. To achieve this, the structural insulated panels (SIPs) were designed and factory cut into narrow widths. This allowed them to be quickly and easily fixed to the concrete frame. The 142 mm Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel installed on ‘The Word’ can help to achieve U-values of 0.20 W/m2.K or better whilst its OSB/3 facing and jointing system helps to minimise unnecessary air loss. The manufacturing facility where the panels are produced carries both FSC (FSC-C109304) and PEFC Chain of Custody certification. Also, there are constructions available that correspond to BRE Global Green Guide generic elements which achieve a Summary Rating of A+. www.kingspantek.co.uk 01544 387 384
