SHOWCASE | COMPANY NEWS SFS flat roofing catalogue now available SFS, manufacturer of fastener solutions for the building envelope, has published a new catalogue for its flat roofing product range, presented in a ‘user-friendly’ format. Now available to download at www.sfsintec.co.uk and to request as a printed catalogue, the new 200+ page catalogue is a comprehensive update to the previous issue to reflect the range of products and systems offered by SFS. The catalogue details the solutions available for the three main SFS systems: the Isofast fully metallic system, the Isotak thermal break fastening system and the Isoweld induction welding system. The easy-to-use format is said to make finding the right SFS product ‘quick and simple’ and encompasses fastener solutions for steel, concrete and timber deck, along with critical Preparation of the flat roof for using the Isoweld induction welding system from SFS. The company’s long-standing history is said to begin back in 1928 when C.W. Goodyear founded Steelway. In the years that followed, Steelway were reportedly able to make significant marks in its history, designing and manufacturing London’s first safety barriers at Britannia Crossing in Camden Town, creating crowd-control solutions for the coronation of two British Monarchs, manufacturing stretchers for the injured during the Second World War and providing steel floor solutions for two well-known James Bond films at Pinewood studios. More recently it installed access ladders to the Houses of Parliament. Steelway currently operates three divisions from two manufacturing plants in Wolverhampton and West Veka Group has been shortlisted for three accolades in the Red Rose Awards, hosted by Lancashire Business View. 2018 sees Veka Group shortlisted for: ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, ‘Employer of the Year’ and the new ‘In-House Training’ award. Gabriela Hammond, head of human resources, said: “We’re very pleased to have been shortlisted for not just one, but three Red Rose Awards. We were proud to have won the award for ‘Best Large Business’ in 2017 and we’re hopeful that our efforts will be rewarded in another category this year. “Putting the different award submissions together was a great opportunity to reflect on all the hard work that goes on at VEKA and the diverse ways in which the team have supported the local community recently. Together, we’ve raised more than £40,000 for regional charities in the last three years, and our community work has seen staff members mentoring students from local schools during partnership programmes that have proved to be mutually beneficial. “When it comes to in-house training, we are very proud of our apprenticeship programme with record numbers of placement opportunities offered this year. We have also been able to put 70 employees through the BIT (Business Improvement Techniques) programme to enable them to gain NVQ qualifications while at work. “Whether or not we take home the trophies, we’re very proud to have made the awards shortlist in three categories and been recognised for the hard work we put in.” www.vekauk.com Bromwich, employing more than 150 people.
