With its acoustic benefits, the Office Partition XL System makes installation quick and easy, enabling the feeling of openness and light created by large glazed walls. The height of the hinged doors on the Office Partition XL system can be easily adjusted, whilst glass fabrication is not required and the doors can be installed in mounted ceiling profiles in wall-to-glass or glass-to-glass applications. Floor-to-ceiling doors can also be mounted, if desired. CRL offers a choice of door hinges, latches, and handle sets. The standard dry-glazed system provides maximum transparency and available in a satin anodised or brushed nickel finish. The profiles are suitable for 8 to 16mm monolithic toughened glass or laminated glass and are supplied with EPDM fixing gaskets available in black or grey. To help with the glass panel installation, the CRL Vacuum Ratchet Tensioning Kit enables the glass panels to be easily placed and pulled together. www.crlaurence.co.uk Fast food chain now features fast-paced drainage system Lightweight channel drainage system Filcoten, from Gatic, has recently been installed at a McDonald’s restaurant in Tonbridge. Filcoten Pro G NW100 c/w F900 Grate was supplied through civil drainage merchant MPS and installed by contractor Galamast, who handle most of McDonald’s construction projects. Filcoten’s composition and close control of the curing process means it achieves a compressive strength 50% higher than conventional HPC without having to revert to the use of chemical stabilisers, additives or releasing agents. Filcoten is manufactured from a High Performance Concrete (HPC) that is new flexible and strong. It is claimed that Filcoten is 70% lighter and its bond to an identical concrete surround is five times stronger, improving resilience to traffic loading, ground movement and thermal cycling. Filcoten is 100% recyclable, non-flammable and UV resistant unlike resin or polymer based products. www.gatic.com Rising to the top Adhesives and chemical building products manufacturer Mapei is now packaging Mapefer 1k in Alu-Pak. Mapefer 1k is Mapei’s onecomponent corrosion-inhibiting cement mortar for the protection of reinforcing bars. Using Alu-Pak for Mapefer 1K means a longer storage life of up to 12 months. Weatherproof and easy to wipe clean, the new packaging is also sturdier and less likely to rip on site or during distribution. The Alu-Pak packaging is made up of three layers comprising an initial polyurethane layer, a thin layer of aluminum and a final white layer of polyurethane which can also be printed onto. The combination of these three layers makes for a stronger and sturdier packaging, as well as being more economical in terms of the space needed for storage in warehouses and distributors. Mapefer 1K is a one-component mortar prepared according to a formula developed in the Mapei Research and Development laboratories based on polymers in powder form, cementitious binders and corrosion inhibitors to be applied on reinforcing bars to prevent rust formation. www.mapei.com/GB-EN/ Hever Castle & Gardens, in the High Weald of Kent is now home to the Brookhurst Wentworth natural clay roof tile from Sahtas. Brookhurst Wentworth has been specified for the refurbishment of a variety of buildings in the grounds of the Castle including the Courtyard Shop and Head Gardeners offices, both adjacent to the romantic lakeside Loggia and newly refurbished Guthrie Pavilion restaurant. Brookhurst clay roof tiles are hand-made following traditional methods Blocks of selected clay from a private quarry are thrown on to sanded wooden moulds, cut, flattened and shaped by skilled hands. The tiles are fired in coalfired kilns at 1070° for more than six days and then cooled slowly. Polegate Roofing carried out the tile application and its director, Ian Mepham said: “We were immediately impressed with the colour, quality and durability of the Brookhurst tile, not to mention an extremely competitive price. We have increasingly specified the Wentworth since using it on the Hever Estate and we always receive good feedback which we attribute to the aesthetic of the tile. The Brookhurst range of tiles and fittings blend well with reclaimed tiles, blending old with new, for a weathered and authentic appearance, even to new roofs.” www.sahtas.co.uk
