Providing Pure Care on the buses UK carpet manufacturers Heckmondwike has laid its hardwearing Pure Care carpet in a new library bus for St Andrew’s School, Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire. The school wanted to create an interesting library bus interior that was hard-wearing, bright and easy to maintain. Michelle Burton, sales manager from flooring contractor Rishton Flooring, who managed the carpet installation for the bus said: “This was such an unusual and fun project, but the challenges for the flooring solution were considerable; high footfall, environmental contamination and fluctuations in temperature all meant that the carpet had to be very durable. But given that the bus was also a learning environment for young children, the school wanted a flooring solution that was colourful, contemporary and soft underfoot.” Heckmondwike’s Pure Care offers durability and visual appeal needed. Available in eight colours, Pure Care also offers high stain resistance. St Andrew’s was keen to reflect its school colours in its choice of flooring for the library bus, so Pure Care in ‘Sapphire’ was chosen. www.heckmondwike-fb.co.uk PRODUCT PROFILES | GENERAL PRODUCTS Plenty of quiet for studious students Weaponness Park in Scarborough, a former brownfield site, has been transformed into a £15million development comprising an improved community leisure centre, a new stadium for Scarborough Athletic Football Club, a University Technical College and a satellite campus for Coventry University, with over 6000m2 of Rockfon ceilings installed in the Technical College and satellite campus. Acoustic control was vital for both education buildings. To reduce the level of noise generated internally by rainfall on the roof, Rockfon Tropic dB35 was been installed in the upper floors. The range decreases the ambient sound level in the classrooms and limits noise transference to the spaces around and below. Rockfon Artic ceilings was installed throughout the teaching, dining, communal and circulation areas in the College and Campus. Willmott Dixon specified Rockfon Artic because of its cost-effectiveness, whilst its white ceiling tile provided 85% light reflection. Alongside this, Rockfon Koral was fitted with Chicago Metallic T24 ECR grid in Scarborough Leisure Village, with Rockfon Blanka used in the Directors’ offices. Rockfon MediCare Standard was installed in the shower rooms, changing areas and kitchens as it is able to withstand up to 100pc relative humidity without deteriorating. www.rockfon.co.uk Housing development turns over a new slate A housing development in the heart of the West Country has featured the conservation of a listed mill property as well as new roof designs: all articulated using CUPA PIZARRAS Cupa R12 slate.
