GENERAL PRODUCTS | PRODUCT PROFILES Going underground with new pump station Said to be "55 years in the making", a new range of underground pump stations from Saniflo, has been unveiled for pumping residential and commercial waste water from flats, plants, outside event sites or public buildings. The Sanifos range consists of three models, the 110, 250 and the 500 with a three-phase version of the Sanifos 500 to be launched in early 2018. The new products allow a pumping station to be sited outside a building and below ground where the drainage is too low for a sewer or too low for a surface mounted pumping station. The two smaller units, the 110 and 250, are designed for the drainage of a single dwelling incorporating WC, bathroom, kitchen and utility room. With 110 litre and 250 litre tanks respectively, both units feature a single grinder pump with float activation and robust cutting blades to prevent clogging. The Sanifos 500 features dual motors and is designed to work with a single dwelling with multiple storeys or multiple smaller holiday homes. The three-phase option can pump up to 18m vertically or 200m horizontally and features two powerful 2600W motors. www.saniflo.co.uk OCTOBER 2017 | BUILDING PRODUCTS 77 Sinking to new depths Turning over a new leaf In just three weeks, the Kingspan TEK Building System of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), has been erected to form structure of a new office building at the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) flagship gardens in Wisley in Surrey. As part of a major renewal programme, Evelegh Designs collaborated with design and build contractors, Ashley Group, to create a single storey office building for the site’s 72 staff members. Whilst the building has the appearance of a traditional barn, its construction is thoroughly modern with the walls and roof formed from 142mm and 172mm Kingspan TEK Building System panels respectively. Tony Frend, contracts manager at Ashley Group explained: “The original tender specified that the walls needed to achieve a U-value of 0.22 W/m2.K. The Kingspan TEK Building System was our preferred specification as, in addition to providing a reliable build programme, the 142mm wall panels also allowed us achieve an enhanced U-value of 0.19 W/m2.K on the walls. For the roof construction we were able to go one step further, installing the 172mm Kingspan TEK Building System panels to achieve a U-value of just 0.17 W/m2.K.” www.kingspantek.co.uk Wetroom specialist CCL Wetrooms has launched its shallowest ever waterless trap with a depth of 55mm called the Lo-Seal trap. The Lo-Seal trap has been developed for use in wetroom construction projects with screed depths of below 60mm, and the new trap allows wetroom drainage to be installed where standard depth drains cannot be accommodated. The Lo-Seal Trap is the latest technological development to the Linear Screed Drain which contains a spring-loaded mechanism, which now locks into position, to keep the trap sealed when not in use. This ensures that even when the shower is left unused for prolonged periods, the tap cannot dry out. The slimline linear drain allows the waste position to be rotated through 360deg. to avoid all obstructions under the floor and enables easy installation in wet rooms.
