The low-profile panels have been used by heating companies, property developers and general contractors to introduce energy efficient heat delivery, where other UFH systems simply would not fit. The routed timber boards feature an aluminium layer bonded over the surface and are installed over the existing floor construction, then covered by a 6mm sheet of ply or final floor finish. LowBoard comes in 15mm and 22mm thicknesses as well as a specialist 26mm acoustic version to assist with attenuation. The underfloor heating panels are floated or mechanically fixed over a flat timber or solid sub-floor. The in-house manufactured Omnie underfloor heating systems – which also include Torfloor and FoilBoard – provide an easy to install means of distributing warmth throughout a property and, correctly specified, can enable condensing boilers, heat pumps or other renewable technologies to operate at higher efficiency levels than using conventional radiators. www.omnie.co.uk Bloc solid colour vinyl flooring from commercial flooring manufacturer Polyflor was recently installed in the refurbished office of Ashworth Parkes Architects in Cambridge. Bloc PUR in the bright yellow Lemon Punch design was selected whilst the subtler Studio Grey shade from the Bloc collection was used for an upstairs meeting area. Bloc PUR is a collection of solid colour sheet flooring in 16 shades, with a fully pigmented, homogeneous 0.7mm wear layer of pure colour. Designed to provide either a subtle backdrop or a bold, modern statement in commercial interiors, UK manufactured Bloc PUR is a heterogeneous sheet floorcovering with a textured matt finish. Jeremy Ashworth, director of Ashworth Parkes Architects, said: “We wanted to make a bold statement with the interior design of our small office space. Bloc flooring in this vibrant shade has helped us take our office from ordinary to extraordinary in a simple yet effective way.” www.polyflor.com/bloc Keeping the heat on competitors With a product range includes high end and mid-range gas fires, DRU has released a new addition to its Dik Geurts collection of contemporary wood stoves. Aste is a rectangular stove with a 4.9kW heat output and a clear viewing window made from heatresistant infrared glass. The Aste wood stove comes with classic splayed legs and a smooth anthracite finish. The flames and heat settings are adjusted by a slide control and there is a cool touch handle. Aste can be installed as a freestanding stove or inserted into an inglenook chimney opening. It has the option of an external air version for clean burning and high efficiency. The Aste, as with all Dik Geurts stoves, is Eco Design ready with an A+ energy rating. Niall Deiraniya, DRU UK general manager: “We have had great success with the Dik Geurts Ivar wood stove collection, which has a clean, contemporary styling combined with excellent functionality. The Aste is based on the same concept but with a traditional British stove design more likely to appeal to rural home owners as well as city dwellers.” www.drufire.com Cleaning agent makes customers ‘Think Dirty’ Fast acting cleaning agent X800 from Sentinel is able to clean heating systems in as little as one hour, helping customer to deliver fast and effective best practice boiler protection services. Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner can be used in hot or cold systems (older than six months) and, thanks to its no-foam formula, can be used in powerflushing machines. The non-acidic cleaning agent targets heavy corrosion that accumulates at the base of radiators, suspended debris that can block waterways and damage components, and rust and scale which forms on radiator walls. The product has been launched as part of Sentinel’s industry-wide ‘Think Dirty’ campaign, which aims to eradicate dirty circulating water by helping installers to deliver best practice cleaning through the use of cleaning chemicals matched to the age of system and type of corrosion. Sentinel is the only water treatment company to provide installers with a full range of cleaning chemicals. The new chemical innovations in Sentinel X800 Cleaner include reducing agents to dissolve adhering corrosion crusts and settled debris, and strong complexing agents that help retain dissolved corrosion debris and scale in solution. www.sentinelprotects.com
