95% of council tenants choose Fibo panels over tiles says R&M Williams

Cardiff contractor R&M Williams says Powys County Council residents prefer Fibo wall panels to traditional ceramic tiles for their bathrooms. R&M Williams is refurbishing the bathrooms of 2,000-4,000 of the Council’s properties on an ongoing basis. The project began in early 2018 and tenants are given the choice of having the existing tiles replaced with either tiles or Fibo’s high performance wall panels.

“On seeing the samples, over 95% of tenants choose the panels,” explained R&M Williams site manager Kristian Orchard. “They look and feel like tiles but they’re much easier to maintain and keep clean, with no grouting to attract mildew or mould. We also prefer to fit the panels over tiles due to the speed and ease of installation. The Fibo Aqualock system means the panels just click together like a jigsaw puzzle – so much quicker than tiling.”

Fibo wall panels provide a hygienic, watertight system for both refurbishment and new construction projects, and can be fitted directly to existing walls, tiles or stud partitioning.

Kristian continued: “The condition of the existing walls has been OK, but it’s great to have the option to board over tiles if necessary, saving further time and money.

“I’d heard of Fibo previously, but this was the first time we used the panels in a project, as the local governing body recommended them. The support from Fibo has been great. The team visited our yard to demonstrate how to install the panels. We would definitely use Fibo in future projects and wouldn’t think twice about recommending them.”
