Raising the roof
Specialist roof, slate and tile contactors Bracknell Roofing has raised £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after organising an inaugural charity golf day.
The company organised the event at Burton-on-Trent Golf Club which was supported by a number of key material suppliers who entered teams at the event and also generously donated prizes.
Nine teams entered and, as well as the overall team and individual prizes for completing the full 18-hole course, there were a range of other prizes, such as ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’.
A joint team from Sandtoft and ALM won the team award, and Steve Baddeley from Renolit UK was crowned individual champion.
Bracknell Roofing’s Divisional Director Simon Smith was delighted at the support for the company’s first charity golf event and already has plans to make it an annual event to raise as much money as possible for good causes.
“Our business nominated Macmillan Cancer Support as our chosen charity this year and looked at ways to fundraise for the organisation, which provides specialist healthcare, information and financial support to people affected by cancer,” he said.
“Considering it was the first time we have hosted a charity golf day, we were delighted by the support of those companies who entered teams, put up prizes and made donations – which all contributed to a great day that raised much-needed money for a charity close to our hearts.
“The feedback from the day was very positive, and we’re already looking to make it an annual event and hopefully raise even more for charity next year.”
