Monika Slowikowska to speak at number of industry events this year
The “inspirational” boss of an award-winning construction company says she is honoured to have been asked to speak at a number of industry events this year.
Polish-born Monika Slowikowska, anticipated to be the only woman working at the level of sole director and owner in the UK construction industry, has been named as a panel member at the Inspire Summit, UK Construction Week, London Build Expo and Construction News Summit events.
Monika, who was voted Best Woman Contractor at the European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards 2018 earlier this year, will discuss the future of construction skills post-Brexit, as well as many other challenges currently facing the construction industry.
Since launching the company Golden Houses Developments in 2012, hers is a success story which continues to grow exponentially, and in its fourth year, the business increased its turnover six-fold compared with its first year of trading.
The female entrepreneur has driven Golden Houses Developments to the forefront of innovative business models, despite operating within an industry that has worked itself into a stagnant rut of inefficiency in recent years.
Monika said: “It is a privilege to be able to speak at these renowned events. I look forward to sharing my vision of the construction industry and joining other industry leaders in discussing the future and impacts within the sector.”
Monika will make the first of four appearances at these industry events on 25 September 2018 at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester during the Inspire Summit.
Monika will join a panel discussion, where she will share her view on “How to combat discriminatory behaviour in the workplace: Educate = Eradicate”.
Inspire Summit is an annual conference and exhibition that brings people working in the construction, engineering and housing sectors together to explore how we make the industries more diverse and inclusive.
On October 11 at the NEC Birmingham, Monika will appear at UK Construction Week.
She will form part of a ‘Question Time’ style panel, discussing the future of construction skills in the post-Brexit era.
Monika will also be joining the free to attend London Build Expo on October 23, as part of a panel discussing the London Skyline in 2020.
On November 21, Monika will join other industry experts at Construction News Summit.
The panel will discuss attitudes, opportunities and structures and what needs to be done throughout the supply chain to change the gender balance on boards.
