Robinson up for Tekla Award with complex Cemex building project

Steel construction specialists Robinson Structures is up for the Industrial award at the UK Tekla Awards 2021 thanks to its Cemex Climafuel Store Building in Rugby.
And the £3m project is also included in the ‘Publics Choice Award’ allowing the public to vote for their favourite entry by Friday, June 11, with the winner going through to compete in the Global Tekla Awards.
The large single processing plant enables Cemex to expand its facilities for producing concrete materials and provides the building materials solutions company with a new storage building.
The building, approximately 32m in span and 21m high to eaves from the lowest level, consists of a single span braced steel building with roof trusses, multiple floor levels, cranes, and basements.
Robinson’s Operations Director Ashley Robinson said: “This was a prestigious project for Robinson, and we are delighted it is up for the Industrial award and the ‘Publics Choice Award’ as the standard is very high.
“It was a highly complex structure, with a multi-level design to accommodate various plant and machinery as well as an extensive truss structure to create an open space within the storage area of the building.”
The UK Tekla Awards showcase projects modelled using Tekla software to celebrate the very best and innovative work of its customers.
Utilising the Tekla Structures model sharing platform enabled Robinsons to work on the different aspects of this project whilst achieving the detailing programme, while the company’s contract department used Tekla Trimble Connect software to establish an erection sequence.
“We are extremely proud to have been involved in this project and would not have been able to complete this project without Tekla software,” added Ashley. “The project is also the perfect example of how Robinson can collaborate and thrive on large-scale complex projects.”
Robinson, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, serve the agriculture, industrial and commercial sectors.
