Homebuilder invests more than £1.6m into Thornbury community
National homebuilder Miller Homes is investing more than £1.6m in services, highways and green spaces in Thornbury and the surrounding area as part of its commitment to the local community.
The homebuilder, which starts work on its Cleve Wood development on Morton Way, Thornbury, this Autumn, is contributing more than £800,000 of the funds to local open spaces and outdoor sports facilities in the town and the surrounding area. This will include maintaining the Cleve Wood and Crossways woodland which sit close to the new neighbourhood as well as allotments for the new residents. Miller Homes is planning to set out a woodland management scheme, in collaboration with the local council to ensure that trees are protected and that local residents have access to enjoy the area.
A further £500,000 will be put towards local highways. This includes traffic calming measures on Morton Way, a new footpath connecting the development to Crossways School and the installation of three new bus shelters, that will provide real- time information on services to the area. Work to make road improvements will be carried out on Grovesend Road and at the Church Street junction with the A38. The remaining contributions will be put towards recreation.
The new development is set to launch online for house hunters in March 2021, with the showhome opening in late Spring 2021. The new neighbourhood will feature a total of 350 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
Danny O’Connor, Divisional Managing Director for Miller Homes Midlands and the South said: “We’re really excited to get started on Miller Homes @ Cleve Wood this Autumn. Like with any new Miller Homes neighbourhood, we understand the importance of contributing to the community, to ensure local services, highways and leisure facilities can support new and existing residents in the area. That’s why this investment of £1.6M for Thornbury is so important.
“Miller Homes @ Cleve Wood offers the perfect location for families that favour rural living but with city life just round the corner. Bristol, Gloucester and Newport are all within a commutable distance, so it offers an opportunity for flexible working, a trend we know has grown this year and is likely to continue into the year ahead. We look forward to the upcoming launch of the new neighbourhood next Spring.”
