Boost in demand for express bespoke fire doors since Grenfell
The manufacturer of specialist internal doors reports a rise in enquiries and orders for smaller contracts with shorter delivery times.
Nigel Sill, chairman of Enfield Speciality Doors, said: “Since Grenfell, everyone has become more aware of their responsibilities in specifying, supplying, fitting, inspecting and maintaining fire protection.”
Higher level fire doors (eg FD 60 minutes plus) are required for many different projects, from self-builds, private housing or renovations, to multi-use/commercial buildings. End-clients include student landlords with damaged doors that need replacing immediately, or hotels or offices needing to upgrade a few doors (rather than a whole block).
“We’re also seeing a rise in specifications for doors combining high acoustic or security performance with high fire resistance,” added Nigel, “including music studios, conference rooms, clinics, cinemas or swimming pools.”
Enfield Speciality Doors can supply acoustic doors with high fire resistance (FD30 doors with up to 48dB acoustic performance or FD60 doors with up to 41dB, with a multitude in between).
