Fortitude railings: first-class versatility, with the convenience of off-the-shelf
Paul Smith, Head of Marketing at F.H. Brundle, explains the many benefits of Fortitude railings.
For you, and your customers, they’re the best of both worlds – railings that are off-the-shelf, but nevertheless provide enough versatility for customisation to suit most projects or properties.
In the 2020s, that versatility is more important than ever. Consumer attitudes have shifted significantly over the last two decades.
Once, people generally approached garden makeovers from a very practical perspective. Product choice was extremely limited, and buying decisions were mostly made on cost and what did the job.
Then, driven by the wave of aspirational garden-focused TV that appeared from the late 1990s, there was a surge of interest in products with outstanding aesthetics, and the ability to be tailored to a homeowner’s tastes, character and overall vision for their garden.
Cost and complexity
However, both for tradespeople and end-users themselves, this wasn’t without its issues.
For homeowners, the kind of bespoke, hand-crafted products that the popular makeover shows often showcased could be extremely expensive, hard to source and time-consuming to install.
Thankfully, there’s a very neat solution to all these issues – products that deliver great flexibility and those sought-after aesthetics, but are ready-made, installer-friendly, and extremely quick and easy to fit.
Strong, versatile and user-friendly
That’s exactly what F.H. Brundle’s Fortitude railing system has been designed to provide.
Fortitude railings are among the most versatile and user-friendly products of their type available today.
The range consists of a series of ready-to-install railing panels, glass panels, posts and brackets that can produce different design solutions.
Pre-drilled posts are available in sizes of 50 and 70mm, made of pre-galvanised steel, and sprayed with both a protective zinc phosphate coating and an Akzo Nobel UV-resistant powder coating.
They come in a contemporary black sand finish and in a variety of different fixing types – bolt-down, concrete-in or side-fix.
Classic aesthetics
The Fortitude Traditional™ range offers an attractive, easy to install and innovative pre-welded panel in two styles and a simple bracket fixing system.
Thanks to highly innovative steel raking panels, the railings can be easily fitted to stairs and slopes without the need to pre-fabricate, and the panels conceal the pivot point of each spindle.
Panels can be cut to size on-site or a make-up panel is available, which can be used as a cost-effective alternative or to make a gate using the railing gate kit.
Not only capable of significantly reducing time on site, but its extensive range of components also allows for huge flexibility and scope for customisation, no matter how large or small the project at hand.
Virtually maintenance-free, they’re equally well suited for residential or commercial applications.
Style and sophistication
Our Fortitude Contemplation glass railings without handrail is a stylish and sophisticated product, designed to maximise the view. It consists of pre-drilled posts, glass clamps and 10mm standard glass panels, and when fitted on a flat surface gives an 1100mm high handrail.
The 10mm thick standard glass panels are available from stock, in 100mm increments up to 1100mm width, to make your installations quicker, easier and more cost-effective.
Finally, we have our Fortitude Contemporary glass railings range, with a choice of glass panels or glass slats. With their simple slide technology, they are quick and easy to install and both systems are supplied in kit form, with an aluminium top and bottom rail that cleverly integrates the glass into the design.
Both kits are available in black gloss RAL 9005 and black sand and there is a choice of clear or grey tinted glass with the slats system.
For ease and simplicity, all our brackets are supplied with suitable fixings for use on steel or wooden posts. The system can also be fixed to fascia’s using our side fix posts and fascia brackets.
