Ibstock, the UK manufacturer of clay bricks, concrete building products and construction systems, has positioned itself ‘at the heart of building’ with the launch of a brand-new showroom in Hatton Garden, London.
Named ‘The I-Studio’, the interactive, collaborative space is designed to serve as a hub of ‘innovation, ingenuity and inspiration’ for architects, specifiers and the wider building community. Its opening coincides with the recent unveiling of Ibstock’s new, refreshed logo and corporate strapline – ‘at the heart of building’, which aims to give Ibstock ‘a more coherent and cohesive voice in the market’, better aligning it with ‘the full and varied scope of the business’.
Addressing the audience at The I-Studio launch event, Annette Forster – Ibstock group marketing director, said she hoped the new brand identity would make it easier for customers to engage with the company and find the products they need, stating: “We have such a broad offering but people don’t always know it.”
A keynote speech from Lord Andrew Mawson OBE followed, examining “joined up communities” and how the built environment affects and influences our community relationships.
In his presentation, entitled: ‘A place, a street, a city…. connecting the dots’, Lord Mawson discussed his involvement with various projects, including the Bromley by Bow Centre in East London, a community organisation which encompasses an array of integrated social enterprises based around art, health, education and practical skills.
Expressing the view that building the right kind of environment can transform people’s lives for the better, he also warned that spending money on the wrong environment has “profound social and economic consequences”.
“The future,” he said, “is about creating environments where people can come together and collaborate. It is about people and relationships more than enterprise and culture. We all know if the relationships and the people are right, everything else will follow.”
Looking at the bigger picture, he said: “It is the micro that is the way to the macro; understand the detail in one place and then you will understand many places.”
Attendees at the launch event also heard from key members of Ibstock’s new leadership team including CEO Joe Hudson; Mark Houghton – managing director, Concrete Division and Kate Tinsley – managing director, Clay Division, about their vision for the company’s future. The latest specification technology, including Ibstock’s product selector and a virtual reality headset was also available for visitors to use.
With the Ibstock group’s vast product portfolio on display in its entirety, including walling options from Ibstock Brick and Ibstock Kevington, concrete roofing solutions from Forticrete and fencing, landscaping and building products from Supreme, construction professionals are invited to visit the space by appointment to gain an insight into all the company has to offer.
