James Latham expands solid surface offering with new brands from Aristech

UK distributor of timber, panels and decorative surfaces, James Latham, has expanded its solid surface offering for the specification market with the introduction of two new brands from US-based manufacturer, Aristech Surfaces.

Offering numerous benefits, the versatile Avonite and Studio Collection brands are suited to a wide range of interior and exterior applications in a variety of settings including education, retail and healthcare.

Avonite is a durable, seamless and thermoformable acrylic solid surface material that allows the creation of unique shapes and high-performance surfaces.

Made from a blend of bauxite (mineral powder), high-performance acrylic resins and natural pigments, Avonite can be heated until malleable, allowing it to take on original shapes with smooth curves and organic lines.

Available in a palette of 65 colours as standard with the option of colour matching on special orders, Avonite is available in a range of sizes up to a maximum of 5182mm x 1524mm per sheet and in thicknesses between 3mm and 19mm.

Suitable for a variety of settings including educational buildings, offices, retail, restaurants, bars and hotels, as well as residential properties, UV and weather resistant colour options mean Avonite can also be used for exterior façades.

Furthermore, Avonite’s non-porous surface naturally prevents the growth and spread of bacteria while the panels’ seamless assembly makes cleaning simple, meeting the demands of healthcare environments such as operating theatres and laboratories.

A range of kitchen sinks, basins, bathtubs and shower trays in oval, square, rectangular or curved shapes is also available under the Avonite brand. Manufactured in Europe to CE standards from 100% acrylic solid surface, Avonite Surfaces Shaped Acrylic Elements is said to provide a ‘simple, clean’ aesthetic for commercial or residential settings.

The second Aristech brand now available from James Latham is the Studio Collection of luxurious solid design resins.

The customisable Studio Collection panels are made from a patented composite resin and feature a unique combination of transparent, translucent and opaque polymers, blended to form a distinctive architectural material.

The Studio Collection offers a rich palette of nine standard pattern ranges: Metallic, Recycled, Venato, Movement and Crystelles, Glass, Sea Glass, Petals and Element, most of which can be backlit with dramatic effect for prestigious and high-impact applications such as reception desks and sales counters within retail or hospitality environments.

The Petals option is an artisan crafted translucent material that appears to be filled with rose petals, while the Glass series provides unmatched translucency and light refraction. Filled with crushed glass-like particles, this pattern brings depth and luminosity, while the Sea Glass series mimics the look of the freshly tumbled glass found on the sea shore.

Like Avonite, the Studio Collection is also easy to clean thanks to the seamless jointing process and naturally non-porous, preventing the growth of bacteria for optimium hygiene. The Studio Collection is durable, easy to repair and supplied with a 15-year warranty.
