Learn About the New British Standard 8102:2022 with Newton Waterproofing
Newton Waterproofing, the leading independent designers and suppliers of guaranteed waterproofing systems, has written a technical paper around the new British Standard BS 8102:2022, the code of practice for waterproofing in the UK.
After a period of review, the new version of BS 8102 was released on 31st March 2022, and is considered one of the most important documents when it comes to designing and specifying waterproofing systems in the UK.
The revision of the British Standard now reflects the latest developments and materials used in below-ground structures, as well as expanding and improving its scope to include structures such as buried roofs, podium decks and tunnels.
Wider developments in the sector have also been reflected. For example, the need for competent contractors to complete waterproofing installations, and also the need to include an experienced and qualified (CSSW and/or WDS) waterproofing design specialist as part of the design team as early as possible.
As a result, the revised document will continue to provide reassurance to clients and end-users that their below-ground structure has been built using the best practices of the industry, and that the correct combination of materials and planning has been used to make it waterproof.
Newton Technical Director Richard Crossley (CSSW, WDS) was one of the specialist waterproofing experts on the re-write committee for the new Standard, along with representatives from numerous waterproofing industry manufacturers, installers, designers, insurers, engineers, gas specialists, and trade associations.
Newton Waterproofing Managing Director Warren Muschialli comments: “New updates to the standard will have a significant impact on the industry as a whole, which is why Newton has written a technical paper to provide a section-by-section overview of the most important updates.
“We want to ensure that all our specifiers and contractors are kept up to date with all the recent changes, in order to deliver the quality service our customers are used to.”
