Lifting luxury

A Stannah Maxilift MRLi motor room-less passenger lift and Goodsmaster CD chain drive goods lift are the moving solutions of choice for Meridian Grand, a luxury banqueting, conference and events venue in Edmonton, North London.

Both Stannah lifts help Meridian Grand deliver a first class service, whether this is for small, intimate gatherings or large, corporate occasions – from weddings to big-number fund raisers – all in opulent surroundings that are the hallmark of this family run business.

Both Stannah lifts were specified by Peter Goulde, architect at APT Designers in North London. “Having previously specified Stannah lifts we knew their range of products could be well suited for the demands of a hospitality project such as Meridian Grand which requires a smart comfortable passenger lift for visitors to the front-of-house and a reliable goods lift to ensure the building works behind the scenes. Needless to say we were not disappointed,” he said.

The eight-person Maxilift is located in the ground-level marble entrance foyer, to the left of a grand, curved staircase flanked by black and gold wrought iron balustrades. Presented in a natural wood fascia, it welcomes visitors of all mobility levels and escorts them between two floors of comprehensive hospitality facilities.

The lift car interior is finished in opaque white glass with a full-width, half-height silver mirror and hand rail to the rear wall. The floor is recessed to allow the tiling aesthetic to flow into the lift car interior. Brushed satin stainless steel car doors complete the design, and, for safety and reassurance, an autodialler allows passengers to communicate with staff.

Hydraulically driven in a wall-mounted shaft over a distance of 2,950 mm at a speed of .630 m/s, the Maxilift’s motor room-less capability saves space with the controller located separately.

The 1,500 kg Goodsmaster CD is a chain-driven goods only lift that brings movement of goods between the ground floor kitchen and banqueting suites on the upper level – a distance of 2,865 mm.

This model is designed for minimum headroom locations – 2,700 mm in this instance – and operates inside a rapidly erected, structure-supported frame, easily installed with minimal builder’s work. No separate motor room or load bearing shaft is needed, with the control cabinet mounted to suit the site requirements.
The lift car and landing entrance are finished in tough, grey baked enamel (RAL 7038). Concertina landing gates (picket gates) at both levels protect goods in transit, as do the internal bump rails, and the through-car capability optimises access.

As with all Stannah lift products, the Maxilift MRL passenger lift and Goodsmaster CD goods only lift are covered by Stannah’s comprehensive service cover, with continued lift maintenance by the Orpington branch of the London & South East arm of Stannah Lift Services, part of a nationwide network providing total lift servicing and support.
