Polterm Max Plus provides peace of mind with BBA certification
Isover’s Polterm Max Plus stone wool insulation has been certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for use in façade applications. Designed for both ventilated rainscreen cladding and overcladding systems, Polterm Max Plus is said to deliver ‘excellent’ thermal conductivity alongside acoustic performance, while achieving the best attainable A1 Euroclass fire classification according to EN 13501-1.
BBA Certification is a UK mark of excellence and demonstrates to building control, local authorities, specifiers, architects and contractors that the product meets the BBA’s specific assessments of quality, safety, alignment with the relevant building regulations and EN standards, and fitness for purpose for its intended application.
In order to achieve a BBA certificate, Isover’s Polterm Max Plus passed a number of comprehensive assessments including laboratory tests, production inspections and a rigorous set of quality management checks.
Jol Berg, head of technical at Isover, commented: “The BBA is the UK’s leading construction product certification body and approval is only awarded to those products that pass its rigorous assessment. Therefore, receiving the external verification for Polterm Max Plus reassures architects and contractors of the quality and performance of the range, while reinforcing its suitability for façade applications.”
Polterm Max Plus is a non-combustible 1200 x 600mm stone mineral wool slab. With a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK, it will reportedly help reduce the heat loss within the building envelope. Slabs can be tightly butted together, and the inner face will accommodate substrate irregularities to maximise thermal performance in situ.
Manufactured under the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, the range also contains a water repellent additive to protect against moisture ingress during installation and the black glass veil on the external side prevents any unwanted sightings of the insulation from behind the ventilated rainscreen façade system, contributing to the overall aesthetic.
In addition to its proven fire and thermal performance, Polterm Max Plus is quick and easy to handle and install using standard retaining fixings for ventilated rainscreen or masonry façades.
