UK law firm Shoosmiths has advised Peel L&P, a UK real estate regeneration business, and their housebuilding arm, Northstone, to secure residential development permission for up to 276 dwellings in Horwich, Bolton.

The appeal win against Bolton Council allows work to commence on housing plans for the Horwich Golf Club site, in an investment worth more than £34 million, which will create more than 235 jobs during construction – part of Peel L&P’s and Northstone’s national housing delivery focus.

Shoosmiths’ real estate team services a wide variety of clients on real estate, construction, planning, property litigation and environmental issues.

Real estate partner and joint-head of Shoosmiths’ planning team, Kathryn Jump, led the advice to Peel L&P and Northstone.

Kathryn said: “I’m very pleased to see Peel L&P and Northstone win this important appeal following such a complex, yet crucial, case. The area will be transformed into much-needed new homes, tackling the demand for new market and affordable homes, whilst also providing new and enhanced public green spaces.

“We are proud to have delivered such exceptional work for our clients and look forward to seeing the development take shape.”
