Steve Richmond appointed vice-president of BPF Pipes Group

Rehau’s Steve Richmond, head of marketing & technical for the Building Solutions division, has been appointed vice president of the British Plastics Federation (BPF) Pipes Group.

The appointment has a two-year tenure commencing January 2019 following the appointment of Richard Hill as president of the group.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Steve said: “I am incredibly honoured to be appointed as the Vice President of this prestigious group for a two-year period. I am very much looking forward to working alongside the group’s new President Richard Hill, and with other manufacturers to remove the barriers to sales of plastic pipes and to educate the wider industry about the benefits they offer.

“Over my term, I want to support the development and usage of plastics within the building services and civil & utilities sectors whilst at the same time, addressing key topics facing the industry such as sustainability.”

The BPF Pipes Group is the leading trade federation of the UK plastics pipes industry and a member of the European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association (TEPPFA). It is the leading trade association that represents manufacturers and material suppliers of plastic piping systems in the UK. The BPF Pipes Group covers at least 18 different applications of plastic pipes and its members sell around 288,000km of pipe each year.

Rehau’s Building Solutions division has been a keen member of the BPF Pipes Group since 2007. Franz Huelle, technical manager for the Building Solutions Division at Rehau, was also recently appointed as the new chair of BPF Pipes Group’s Building Services application group, looking at hot and cold applications for plastic pipes and systems.

Steve added: “Over the past few years, Rehau has been supporting the BPF with the creation of new guidance notes and input into new British and European standards in a variety of areas, including underfloor heating, plumbing and district heating. Rehau currently sits on various working groups within the BPF and we see the Pipes Group as a key organisation for raising industry standards through best practice.”
